Induz's raised over $1000 for the children of Haiti impacted by the severe earthquake. 100% of the funds will be donated to UNICEF for the children of Haiti.
Induz's popular monthly karaoke event "Sing for Art" was dedicated to raising awareness and funds for the children of Haiti on 1/22/2010 at Swagath Restaurant in Fremont.
There was an overwhelming outpour of contributions and support by the community. Although this is just a drop in the ocean of what Haiti needs; but Induz's effort to bring the community together and make a difference is exemplary.
Manjula Gupta, Advisory Board member for Induz and founder of TV program, Chai With Manjula, addressed the audience at the event and spoke about the values of giving. A moment of silence was observed to pay respect to the victims of the earthquake.
Induz's founder, Ray Mitra said "I saddens my heart to see the massive destruction and the sufferings the Haitians are going through. I am happy that we were able raise awareness and funds for Haiti. I am glad that we were able to motivate local groups to hold similar events."
